Gaining ground in heavy equipment markets

Winter 2011

Doosan is making headway in the heavy equipment market in North America. The company has a long history of building excavators - going back to 1937 - and is using that knowledge to expand its reach, both in product offerings and customer base. Today, Doosan is among the largest construction equipment manufacturers in the world and its goal is to be among the top three global manufacturers.

The company's line of crawler excavators, wheel excavators, wheel loaders, articulated dump trucks and attachments is expanding with additional models and new technologies that set Doosan equipment apart from the competition. Quality is important to Doosan, and its equipment meets requirements for ISO 9001, ISO 14000, as well as the EPA's Tier 3 emissions regulations.

Orange-painted Doosan equipment is showing up more and more on jobsites today. That's due in part to the quality customers expect from Doosan machines, even in challenging operating conditions. Doosan heavy equipment has four key values: durability, operator comfort, fuel efficiency and easy maintenance.

1. Durability
Improvements to the Doosan line of heavy equipment increase its durability, minimizing downtime. Doosan stands behind its products with a 48-hour parts guarantee.

  • Doosan wheel loader buckets have thicker wear plates for longer life.
  • Air cleaners are larger and last longer than other brands.
  • Doosan is the only manufacturer with an internal mechanical exhaust gas recirculation EGR system that doesn't have to be removed for servicing.
  • Cast pin points on all locations on the boom and arm improve durability in harsh applications.

2. Operator comfort
Once you sit in the seat of a Doosan machine, it's clear that they are extremely comfortable, easy-to-operate and quiet.

  • Doosan machines have large cabs and adjustable seats with seat belts to fit operators of varying sizes.
  • Large windows provide operators with improved visibility of the work area.
  • Doors open 180 degrees for easy entry and exit.
  • Doosan equipment is engineered for lower noise levels to produce a quiet operator environment - quieter than most passenger cars.

3. Fuel efficiency
Doosan construction equipment minimizes fuel consumption and is competitive with other brands in the industry.

  • Excellent communication between the engine and hydraulics in Doosan excavators, and between the engine and the transmission controller in Doosan wheel loaders, contribute to fuel efficiency.
  • All Doosan wheel loaders have a variable-speed fan that slows with lower coolant temperature to conserve fuel; also available on DX420LC, DX480LC and DX520LC excavators.
  • Multiple working modes all the operator to configure the engine and hydraulics for optimum performance.

4. Easy maintenance
Doosan equipment is designed and built for easy routine maintenance. Here are a few of the highlights:

  • Centralized grease points
  • Remote checkpoints for brakes and hydraulics on Doosan wheel loaders
  • Generous space for quick and easy access
  • Water separator, fuel filter and fuel primer are easily reachable from the ground
  • Hoses and electrical wires are clearly labeled, with organized routings
